I know many of you have heard me talk about this already, but today is a great day! My friend, Meg, author of A Practical Wedding, is launching her book today, A Practical Wedding: Creative Solutions for a Beautiful, Affordable, and Meaningful Celebration. The APW community is banding together to make this book a bestseller for the day! My friend Maddie, who is now the Submissions Editor for APW, wrote her review of the book, and this little bit really stuck out to me:
"Between the reality TV shows, the magazines, and the blogs, the wedding industry makes us out to be both the victims and the villains of our own wedding stories. We're either doing Too Much or Not Enough and we can never win. And the industry is making boatloads of money off our insecurity. But this book, this monumental labor of love, it doesn't want that for you. It gives you the power to own your wedding, to make it something that is meaningful, joyful, respectful—and that's powerful."
I haven't read the book myself yet, but my copy is ordered, and I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive! I'm extra excited to see the final product, since I've been quoted in the book myself (as a bride, not as a vendor) and my photo of Meg is on the back cover! And yes, I will totally autograph it for you. ;)
So if you or anyone you know is planning a wedding and in need of a good dose of reality and sanity, go get a copy (or two) today, and help us make it a bestseller!
